Located in Eastern Europe, Ukraine is a former Soviet State that gained its independence in 1991 with the break-up of the former Soviet Union. Nicknamed "The Breadbasket of Europe" because of its fertile land and climate, its forests mean there is a long tradition of working with wood and this is reflected in their jewellery.
